Thing is, most of the things that get such high scores and monthly winners are either done by the few people that rank at the top of the portal (The Swain, Allen Awesome, etc.) or one of the people who work at Newgrounds. If you want to stand out, you either have to do something different (like MyNewgrounds) or something that's genuinely funny for everyone. Video game parodies are pretty annoying nowadays because not many people know how to make them properly.

Maybe if you tried something other than Star Collabs/pointless subs then people would appreciate it more.

Hey, I tend to agree with your thoughts on this. I've been a little lucky here but still have issues with how people vote/view things here.

I mean, if you have either awesome graphics or you make a shitty Video Game knock-off with horrible "random" humor you do well. I've never been a huge fan and it's rarely done well. I also will never be an award-winning artist.

So, I see where you're coming from and your state of mind is somewhat why I haven't released anything since November.

I'm sure there's a lot of guys who feel the same way as you do. But then there is a large number of the NG audience- possibly the majority - who love those kind of things.

The thing is Newgrounds doesnt owe any of us a living and if all you want is more views or higher scores then there is nothing to stop you playing the game. Spend a couple of weeks on a Mario Flash and you'll get your Top 50 placement.

Fortunately, not everyone is out for "fame" and it's commendable that you don't want to be a whore.

I've seen Flashes of mine take a brutal down-scoring in my time and received reviews that ACTUALLY SAY, " I couldn't be bothered to watch the whole thing", but I couldn't give a shit- I'm still gonna do what I want to do.

I feel the same way too sometimes, I refuse to resort to video game parodies or lame penis jokes to get more viewers. I know it sucks sometimes but i work hard on my series and even though it took over a year, it has become an official series on the site, the fan base isn't huge and there are always at least a few haters but that's no surprize. It might feel like you're not getting the response you want but you got to remember why you make flash in the first place, I do it for myself and the dedicated fans, and i'll keep going even if only one person wants me to, especially if that one person is me.

like others are saying...not all games are something to complain about and not all movies are vid game parodies or porn.

do what I did. Make cartoons for years and years and years and if you're REALLY LUCKY, you'll anger an admin, become friends with that admin, and then you'll g et more frontpage exposure and a nice niche audience.

You'll still be a horrible failure in real life, but online you'll be in your own special little world where people hang on your every word.
